Farm Fresh Demo and Freeze DOG 2012
The Southeast Camper Dutch Oven Group has been going strong since we received the news last spring that we were an Official International Dutch Oven Society Chapter.
We have had a great time at the following Dutch Oven Gatherings in 2012:
- 1st Annual Southeast Camper Spring Dutch Oven Gathering, Kings Mountain in April
- Red, White and Blue Summer Dutch Oven Gathering, Kings Mountain in July
- Mile High Dutch Oven Gathering, Maggie Valley in July
- Southeast Camper Fall Dutch Oven Gathering, Lake Norman in September
This has kept us very busy and we are not done yet.
We have been invited to do a Dutch Oven Demonstration at the Farm Fresh Marketplace in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Jon Barber, the owner of the Farm Fresh Marketplace will be having a Food Day / Anniversary Celebration on October 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Food Day Celebration will held at 3402 South Main Street Salisbury, NC 28147.

This demonstration will give us a chance to meet others and show them what the Southeast Camper Dutch Oven Group and the International Dutch Oven Society is all about.
Let me know if you would be interested in helping with the demo.
We have also talked about having a Freeze DOG or Winter Dutch Oven Gathering this year. The feed back was encouraging.
We contacted Ranger Joyner about coming back to Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina. I told him about the Freeze DOG Dutch Oven Gathering and we wanted to discuss potential dates for hosting it.
He offered us Shelter No 1 for Saturday, November 10, 2012. We have to give Ranger Joyner and the folks at Kings Mountain State Park 2 BIG THUMBS UP. They have accepted us with open arms. Be sure to “Thank” them.
Let’s make this a major blow out. Let cook up some HOT and SPICY food for our 1st Cold Weather Freeze DOG.
We can serve Chili, South of the Border snacks or anything spicy that warms us up. Drinks too. Hot Cider, Hot Toddies (non-alcoholic, please)
The park is located six miles south on Route 161 off Interstate I-85, Exit 8. The Dutch Oven Gathering will be at Shelter No 1. This shelter has a fireplace along with restrooms and parking nearby. Please bring a log or two for the community fire to help keep us warm. We will meet about 9:00 am, when the park opens for a Meet ‘N’ Greet and Cooks Meeting. If you wish to cook breakfast, lunch or snacks would be great.
Remember this is NOT a competition, but a chance to cook with friends old and new. The purpose of a Dutch Oven Gathering is to bond as friends, enjoy the fellowship that it brings while breaking bread. It is all about “Good Times” “Good Food” and “Good Friends”
Bring your favorite recipes and equipment to prepare your meal for the group buffet. If you have not been to a DOG yet, Come on out and see us.
All are Welcome, Stop by and say “Hello”. We look forward to meeting you

Let’s end 2012 on a Good Note as it will carry us into the new year. As most might remember, the Wonderful Folks at Kings Mountain State Park have secured Shelter No 1 for us to come back on April 27, 2013. Be sure to mark your calendars and reserve a camp site for the 2nd Annual Spring Dutch Oven Gathering 2013.
Thank You for a Wonderful Year,
Dan & Katherine
